This is my last letter as President of the BHCC. The year blew by! As promised in my first Board meeting, I pushed a lot of people to undertake new leadership roles in the Hispanic and business community. I am proud of them for receiving the baton of leadership, and encourage them to do their best to carry that baton for those that need the BHCC's help.
The BHCC is in good hands, remains strong, and will continue to be a pillar of the business community in the coming year -- siempre Adelante!
One of the greatest strengths of the BHCC is the diverse business culture of its members. Although we may have small, medium and large business owners in our membership rolls, all businesses, no matter the iindustry, require yearly planning if they are to be successful. Now is the time to re-evaluate next year's goals.
A good first step is to talk to your accountant prior to delivering your year end paperwork. Make him or her spend the 15 minutes to a half hour with you to assess your financial questions and resume. This off the cuff discussion may allow them to highlight some things for you to think about, and then when he/she has prepared your draft tax forms, you can finalize the discussion based on hard numbers. Brainstorming is never wrong...,
A good second step is to talk to your spouse and family. Are you adding to the family relationship or distracted from it? Granted, we all need to make some money, but family life is critically important to everyone's mental health.
